Had a great 1/4 day trip today. We caught plenty of small fish like Pinfish, small Flounder, and the like. Around mid-trip we had a great surprise when one of the inshore reels baited with a mud minnow took off to the races. After 45 minutes and everyone in the family getting a turn on the rod, a 34 inch Cobia was brought to gaff. What an awesome fish and definately not one we normally see on a 1/4 day trip.

Had a 1/4 day trip today and the charter wanted to catch a shark. Well not only did we catch a shark but had non-stop action from them for 3 hours. Again, the 1/4 day trip is a great way to introduce people to saltwater fishing or for kids as this trip provides lots of action from smaller fish with the possibility of much larger fish.

We had a 1/2 day Shark trip today. While waiting for any sharks to bite, we dropped down mud minnows and were rewarded with some small flounder to bend the rods. Just when we were sure that no sharks were going to visit us today, one of the Tiagra 50s goes nuts and we were hooked up with a freight train. After a 30 minute tug-of-war, a 9 foot Tiger Shark came into view. A few minutes later the shark took off again and smacked its long tail against the line and set itself free. What an incredibly strong animal.

Took a 1/2 day trip today for Kingfish. Fishing started out slow but finally went off toward the end of the day. Totals were 3 Kingfish in the 10 to 12 pound range, 2 large Spanish Mackerel in the 4 pound range, and several small Sharks.

Today we targeted King Mackerel on a 1/2 day trip. The Kingfish bite went crazy; unfortunately, the average size of these Kings was about 18 inches. We managed to find 1 keeper King and 3 Spanish Mackerel to go along with 7 King Mackerel releases, which made for a very steady day of fishing.

After a week of extremely rough weather, we were able to finally get back out on the ocean. Had a great family from West Virginia on a 1/4 day trip today. I highly recommend this trip to anyone new to saltwater fishing or anyone with young kids. The shorter trip ensures short attention spans will not be stretched and bottomfishing at the local nearshore reef provides fast action from a variety of smaller species. Species today included: Pinfish by the bucketload, Lizardfish, Toadfish, and even a few small Flounder. All of which provided lots of action and smiling faces.

Despite a strong effort, the King Mackerel did not want to cooperate today. To salvage the day in their abscence, we dropped some live baits to the bottom at a local artifical reef to see what we could get to bend a pole. Our surprise of the day came from 2 large Bluefish weighing in at 6.5 pounds and 8.5 pounds. It is definately rare to catch such large Blues during the summer in South Carlolina, but it just goes to show that there is never any telling what you may luck into in the ocean.

The King Mackerel started off slow today, but the large Spanish Mackerel kep things interesting for the first few hours with 3+ pound Spanish strinking rather steadily. Finally, after a few hours with no Kings our number was called and this was not your average Kingfish. After a streaking run and an up and down 15 minute fight, a stud 30 pound Kingfish was added to the box. We finished off the day with several more Spanish Mackerel to bring our total to 5 and 2 more, 8 to 10 pound, Kingfish to bring out tally to 3.

Had some great Kingfish action today with fast action once we found the fish. In total 8 King Mackerel in the 6 to 12 pound range were captured with 3 smaller specimens released to be caught again another day. Also heard of some bigger fish being caught in the same area that we were in.
